Hello you! I hope everyone has been enjoying the lovely sunshine we've been having in England the past few days and hope we will have more!
Today I felt like talking more from the heart (not that my other post aren't from the heart) but I felt like showing you a little more of me as a person and be honest with you all. I've always wanted to do a post like this one but never felt the courage to do so, however I feel like I'm in a good place where I can share with you all of what's been behind the scenes.

When I first started this blog, it was to document my art work all in one place and was another medium for me to express my creativity. Over the years it has now grown into a documentation of travel, experiences that I had and still of course my creativity, sharing with you D.I.Y ideas which I love to do. But I want to try and get more personal with you guys and share how I feel and share my thoughts and show you who I am as person. So I guess it's a little get-to-know-me time. :)

Today I want to share with you guys something that I have been trying to learn to do over the past few months. For those who know me will know I am a workaholic. I always need to be doing something whether its work-work, or work I made up to do myself, or doing something for others. I guess it's this mentality I've always had on improving myself and 'doing better' from a very young age. However I have realised I've been putting too much pressure and have been too hard on myself leading me to  mentally break down a few times recently. I guess part of the reason has been the pressure of university, but I think I will leave that for another post.

Something I've been trying to do recently that has helped me clear my mind and recharge is what I've been calling SELFISH SUNDAYS!
Now, this can be for ANY time not just Sundays but for me it is the perfect day to be a little selfish. I think it's important everyone to have a little 'me time' now and then and to take care of yourself first, to connect with ourselves and let go of everything that has been a worry or stress. Given time to really recharge and relax will leave us refreshed. So here are some little things that I have been trying to do more regularly to clear my mind.

#1 Turning your phone off / Airplane mode

This one might be the toughest one for you if you are addicted to your gadgets! Now I have to admit that I am pretty connected to my phone. If there was ever an AA meeting for phone addiction then I would probably be one of the first to sign up. However, I have been learning to disconnect more often and not be distracted or disturbed. We can be so consumed with staying in the know, or keeping up with the latest update, that we forget to be in the present. We should not rely on how many likes we get on social media or the amount of followers we have for happiness. These do not define who we are. It's amazing we are able to share so much information with the world and express ourselves in so many ways, but I feel we should not let them consume us.

#2 I say, "Screw diets".

In my book cheat day is everyday! I'm only kidding guys, but seriously in todays society we are so caught u with the ideals of beauty, where young girls and boys are growing up to believe that they are not good enough because they don't look a certain way. I have in the past put pressure on myself to try and become what society told me I should be rather than being happy in my own skin. Yes, of course I can be fitter and be more in shape, I'm not gonna deny that. After all I'm no Jessica Alba, that's a given! I'm simply ME and I have learnt to love me for who I am, and if I feel a little low then I go for a short workout. But if I feel like having a little piece of chocolate, that's okay too! Food is another form of enjoyment, so enjoy it. Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying ignore healthy eating and go grab yourself a McDonald's. What I mean is, we should feel good about what we eat without worrying if this is too much calories and become obsessive. We should embrace who we are and be comfortable with ourselves. However it's also okay if you're not 100% content with the way you look right now and we should learn to embrace change if we are unhappy. For instance my goal is to eat healthier and tone up this year so I can be in better shape - I am perfectly fine with the way I am now but there's nothing wrong with a few improvements. ; )

Whilst we are on the subject of food…lately I have switched up my coffees to a cup of tea and I am loving it! Sometimes having a coffee is a bit too heavy for me as I LOVE my cappuccino, so instead I would have a cup of green tea with a hint my lemon (which is so refreshing btw)!
Don't worry, I don't really eat my blueberries like that! Unless I become a blueberry monster.
I do love my T's (see what I did there? #badjoke)
#3 Get out there!

I can be so easily consumed in work and end up being in my room for hours, even a whole day without leaving the house. So with the recent sunny weather I have made time to go on short walks to clear my head and take a break. Doing simple things like this has helped me feel more motivated, energised and feel more free. It has been great to disconnect with everything and have time to myself and enjoy more of what nature has to offer. Something as simple as taking a walk can be so refreshing but we often take it for granted, or we ignore this simple pleasure as we make the excuse of not having enough time. So I want to challenge you and myself to make more time for these simple pleasures in life that we often forget, and connect more with ourselves.
Life is too short to be consumed with work or be consumed with worry, so let's have more Selfish Sundays and give ourselves a break!

Hope you all enjoyed this post and hope it wasn't too long of a read for you all. Have a great week guys and I'll see you soon!
