Here we go again, another year flown by and now I find myself writing these words to reflect my year in 2016. This year has gone by at lighting speed and as we welcome 2017, it's only tradition on here that I write a little something.
I never really know where to start with these reflections, how much I should write or how much detail to give, so if you are reading this I hope I don't bore you too much.
2016 has been a big journey of self discovery, taking chances and exploration in my career with some trial and error.
So, with that intro I just want to share one thing with you that pretty much sums up what I have learnt this year as my 24 year-old self.
I still have a LOT of learning to do ahead of me but here's a start.
Probably to some the most feared word, and probably not what you were expecting me to talk about as an end of year reflection post. However I have learnt not to fear failure but to embrace it. I like to see failure as a positive than negative, it's all about the journey of discovery and of learning. Discovering your real strengths, finding what works for you, discovering what you're really passionate about and focus more on that.
The saying is very much true, "If you don't try you will never know" and I would much rather have failed many times, learn from it, get back up again being a little wiser and stronger and start climbing my mountain* again, than to stay in one place only to dream but never chase those dreams.
You only fail when you stop trying. - Albert Einstein
This year I have had some shortcomings in my work and I am not afraid to admit that. It's part of life's ups and downs.
Starting my little business in August of 2015, I went into 2016 feeling lost in my work.
Feeling drained from the amount of work I constantly had in front of me. Girl bossing might seem glamours but trust me, it takes a lot of determination, a lot and I mean A LOT of hard work and coffee, sometimes tears esp. if you're #girlbossing alone.
Earlier this year I took time out to really think about my business and where this dream of mine is heading, and listening to what my customers really want help with when planning a party.
Starting Yours Truly my title was Party Planner however, I discovered that this is not my truest passion. What I really and truly love is the production side of events, the designing and making decorations. So slowly I started to do just that with the launch of my bespoke cake topper service. With much hard work and research, I discovered this passion of mine to make and create bespoke party pieces for clients and it has been so much fun. I have been blessed with some lovely clients this year and even collaborate with some lovely fellow bloggers and girl bosses.
I have found my crafty side again after feeling lost in the beginning of the year. Now I have a clearer head and bigger passion for my work to start kicking some ass in the new year. #bringiton
So 2017 I welcome you with big open arms and with bigger dreams.
To sum up this post I thought I will take you down memory lane with me and share with you 5 highlights of this year.
#1 Earlier this year I got invited to lunch with The potato Project to meet the lovely Kesnia and had the chance to taste some lovely Jacket Potatoes! I would highly recommend trying it if you haven't already!
#2 I also had the chance to create a party pack for the cutest 2 year old, Issac! I just had so much fun creating this party pack and it was such a pleasure to work with Lindy from bubzbeauty.
Thank you Lindy for trusting me and my work! x
#3 Back in summer I had the opportunity to create a summer party for my own Church. This was a great experience as I got to give back and serve God with my work which felt amazing. The best part of it all was seeing all the guests having a lovely time and enjoying the day with all the kids!
#4 Another highlight has to be going to Iceland & Canada. Iceland is such a beautiful country and it was the perfect place to free the stresses of work and to clear my head.
Canada was also amazing as I got to visit some family over there and also picked up lots of craft goodies from Micheals (the biggest craft store I've ever been to). Also I filmed my very first Craft video! #youtubedebut
#5 has to be dedicated to my craft posts this year! I wished I had the time to post more DIY'S this year but the weeks just flew by. I even made some draft post for summer DIY's but before I knew it, summer had gone and it was too late to post it. However I have loved every DIY I made this year and hope I will be able to make even more in 2017!
I hope you have had a wonderful year this year and lets make 2017 even better shall we?
Happy New Year Lovelies!
